Quick Gluten-Free Vegan Mousse

Vegan Chocolate Pretzel Mousse

If you’re looking for a healthier single serving dessert, this is it! The mousse has a super smooth and creamy texture, whereas the pretzel adds a layer of crunch. Between the mousse and the pretzels, you have the perfect salty-sweet combo. Of course you know we used gluten free pretzels so that this dessert is both gluten free and vegan! Go make this simple, quick, and easy dessert.

What If I Want More Than One Serving?

You can certainly double this recipe to make it for two instead of just one! However, this is not a recipe I would recommend meal prepping or saving a portion. Why? The avocado in it won’t remain the same color or texture if you leave the mousse for the next day. Despite this, it’s so simple and quick that you really don’t need to prep it ahead of time – it only takes five minutes!

What Equipment Do I Need?

  • Blender or Food Processor – To blend the mixture into a mousse. Make sure to blend it well enough to get that smooth and creamy texture!
  • Jar, Glass, or Bowl – To put the mousse in after you’ve blended it.
  • Butter or Avocado Knife – To cut the avocado in half and remove the pit.

That’s all you need! As I mentioned, this is so simple that even the equipment is simple.

Ingredients

  • Ripe Avocado – It’s important to get the right level of ripeness for this recipe – too ripe and your mousse will be mushy, not ripe enough and it won’t blend well! You want that perfectly green and smooth avocado.
  • Unsweetened Cacao Powder
  • Nut Butter – I used natural peanut butter but any nut butter should do!
  • Maple Syrup
  • Non-Dairy Milk
  • Gluten Free Pretzels

Substitutions

  • Nut Butter – As I mentioned, any kind of nut butter is fine! I used Teddie’s all natural peanut butter if you’d like to use the same.
  • Maple Syrup – Honey (if you’re not vegan) or agave nectar will do the trick as well.
  • Non-Dairy Milk – I used oat milk, but any non dairy milk will work in this recipe.
