Delicious Coffee Almond Protein Smoothie Recipe

Coffee Almond Protein Smoothie

New delicious smoothie alert! Remember those coffee almond protein bars I made (If you don’t check them out here)? Well, think the same flavors as that but in smoothie form and with an extra dose of protein. If you’re a coffee lover like me, this recipe is definitely for you! Enjoy this protein packed smoothie on a warm summer day or whenever the mood strikes. Beat that mid-afternoon slump with this delicious drink or start your day with it.

Vegan Protein Powders

Finding the right protein powder for you can be tricky. When I’ve searched for one – I always look for ones with a dairy free protein base and without all of the extra additives that protein powders can sometimes have. It’s also important to look for one that is organic and third party tested. Protein powders are part of the supplement industry and aren’t all that well regulated so finding one that undergoes third party testing is important. In this recipe, I used the pea protein powder from Sprout Living. All it contains is organic pea protein powder with no other ingredients and it’s third party tested. With this being said, take the time to find the right protein powder for you. Before starting anything new, it’s always recommended to consult your healthcare provider.

Decaf vs. Caffeinated

When I made this recipe, I used decaf coffee grounds because I prefer to not have coffee after a certain time because it affects my sleep. However, if it doesn’t affect your sleep or if you’re having this in the morning, you can certainly use caffeinated ground coffee. Choose what works best for you!

What Equipment Do I Need?

  • High Speed Blender
  • Measuring Cups and Spoons

Ingredients

  • Frozen Banana – In slices or in half
  • Ground Decaf Coffee
  • Maple Syrup
  • Natural Creamy Almond Butter
  • Vegan Protein Powder
  • Soy Milk

Substitutions

  • Maple Syrup – If you aren’t vegan, you can use honey. Agave nectar is also an option.
  • Almond Butter – If you’d prefer a different nut butter, feel free to swap this out.
  • Soy Milk – If there’s a different type of non dairy milk you’d prefer, feel free to switch this up. I went with soy milk because it’s higher in protein.
