First of all, let’s talk about WHY you should always press your tofu. When you press tofu, it removes the excess water. By removing the excess water you’ll get the best texture and flavor out of the tofu in your recipes. Additionally, if you don’t remove the extra water from your tofu, it won’t stay together as well when you cook it, your pieces will be soggy and fall apart. So what’s an easy way to press tofu? Check out the steps below!
Step 1
Put down a plate and top it with multiple paper towels.

Step 2
Open the tofu container and dump the extra liquid from the container down the drain.
Step 3
Place the tofu on the paper towel and add multiple paper towels on top of this.

Step 4
Top with another plate.

Step 5
Put a large/heavy object on top. I used a loaded large binder for this. You could also use a heavy book.
Step 6
Wait about 15 minutes for the excess water to be pressed out.

Step 7
And voilá! The excess water has been removed and your tofu is ready to be used.
